Pall-Ex Group March in March for Combat Stress

Staff and members of Pall-Ex Group have been taking part in March in March, Combat Stress’ charity fundraising challenge to raise money for veterans mental health across the UK.

The challenge to walk, run or roll a minimum of 10 miles throughout the month of March is set to raise funds for life-changing treatment for veterans struggling to deal with their complex mental health problems.

As the UK’s leading charity for veterans mental health, Combat Stress works to help service men and women deal with issues such as trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depression. The main goal of the charity is to treat veterans symptoms and significantly improve their quality of life.

Pall-Ex Group have been long supporters of Veterans, currently holding the Employee Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award from the Ministry of Defense in recognition of the continued support shown to veterans across the country and throughout the globe.

Throughout the month, Pall-Ex Group’s marketing team hosted three successful group walks at Bradgate Park in Leicestershire, to encourage staff and members to build up their miles and get involved with the fundraising.

Alongside the group walks, members of the team completed their 10 miles individually, taking part in walks all over the country including hikes up Mam Tor and the Wrekin walk. 19 individuals from Pall-Ex Group and its members took part in the challenge over the course of the month.

One member of the team, Harry Byrne from Matthews Haulage, individually raised an incredible £904 after walking a total of 100 miles!

Another huge well done to Pav Sapelkin who walked a total of 94 miles throughout the month, alongside raising £50 for Combat Stress. In total, members of the Pall-Ex Group team walked a collective 466 miles!

The fundraising challenge was supported by the Pall-Ex Group board of directors, with Group CEO Kevin Buchanan completing his miles around the world in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, and Barry Byers, UK Managing Director enjoying the British weather.

Combat Stress have been a long-standing partner of Pall-Ex Group, who have taken part in March in March for the past six years. Alongside supporting Combat Stress through March in March, Pall-Ex Group has also raised money for the organisation through charity football matches and annual awards evenings.

The team at Pall-Ex Group raised a total of £2021, which will make a huge difference to the veterans in need of help. All funds raised by Combat Stress go towards treating the complex mental health issues veterans are faced with, giving them access to psychologists, treatment programmes and peer support.

The initial target set to raise for March in March by Combat Stress was £160,000, but with 2961 individuals getting involved, the total amount raised as of the 31st of March was a huge £276,211!

Thank you to everyone who donated and took part in March in March, your support will go towards providing essential mental health treatment to veterans around the country.
