Global Freight Award winners

Major investments in technology have driven Pall-Ex to its latest success at an international awards ceremony.

The East Midlands-based logistics giant picked up the accolade for Service Innovation at the Global Freight Awards, beating big names Maersk and ShipChain to the award.

Pall-Ex was awarded the trophy for its MyNexus IT software, which was developed in-house to provide full visibility and tracking on all palletised freight travelling through its network of independent hauliers.

The technology enhances the customer experience by providing real-time GPS tracking and electronic proof of delivery, which has traditionally been a challenge due to freight being transported by the SMEs within the Pall-Ex network.

The cloud-based system was part of a six-figure investment created with input from Pall-Ex's network members and customers to ensure it was designed with usability in mind.

Kevin Buchanan, Group managing director at Pall-Ex, comments:

“Our aim was to revolutionise freight visibility for customers across the entire Pall-Ex network, which we have successfully achieved.

“We are proud to receive this accolade as an acknowledgement of our commitment to overcoming industry challenges in order to provide customers with an improved service. Pall-Ex has enjoyed a successful 2019, so we are all delighted to celebrate this win.

“We believe MyNexus has set a new industry standard by providing full visibility on palletised freight for the first time."

“As a result, we have seen numerous benefits from the introduction of MyNexus; our central hub and our members have seen a significant reduction in customer service phone calls, enabling our team to proactively focus on customers who need additional support.

“Our customers are also seeing many benefits from the technology as they now know exactly where their freight is and its estimated delivery time.
