Pall-Ex Strike Gold for Health and Safety in the RoSPA Awards

Pall-Ex, a leading palletised freight distribution network, proudly announces its triumph in securing the esteemed Gold Award for Health and Safety Performance from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). This accolade showcases the organisation's commitment to excellence in all areas, especially in providing a safe working environment for its employees.

While 2022 saw Pall-Ex clinching the silver award, its eyes have been firmly set on the gold award. The team have worked tirelessly to achieve the standards set out for the Gold Award by examining accident data and implementing meaningful measures to create change across the business, affecting both operational and support staff.

Troy Bailey, Quality & Compliance Director, working closely with Christina Johnson, Head of Group QHSE, highlighted specific areas that required improvement within the Pall-Ex operation to achieve safety excellence. Through enhanced education, comprehensive process changes and continuous improvement initiatives, the newly implemented health and safety systems ensure that everyone onsite, including hundreds of visiting drivers, are trained in the updated regulations. It is this pioneering initiative that contributed towards the business earning the coveted Gold Award.

The RoSPA Health and Safety Awards is the largest occupational health and safety awards programme in the UK. Now into its 67th year, the Awards have almost 2,000 entries every year, covering nearly 50 countries and a reach of over seven million employees.

Pall-Ex Group UK Managing Director, Barry Byers, commented: “Keeping our people, our partners and the public safe is at the heart of everything we do. We want every day to run without accidents happening, but we work in a high-risk industry, so ensuring health and safety excellence is at the top of our agenda is paramount.”

The programme acknowledges organisations’ commitment to continuous improvement in the prevention of accidents and ill health at work, looking at entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.

Julia Small, RoSPA’s Achievements Director, said: “Accidents at work don’t just have huge financial implications or cause major disruption – they significantly impact an individual’s life. That’s why good safety performance deserves to be rewarded. We are thrilled that the Pall-Ex has won a RoSPA Award and would like to congratulate them on their unwavering commitment."
