Pall-Ex delivers success at industry awards

Staff at Leicestershire-based Pall-Ex are celebrating after picking up a prestigious industry award.

The European palletised freight specialist, owned by renowned entrepreneur Hilary Devey CBE, was named the winner in the Team of the Year category at the 2017 Motor Transport Awards, held at London’s famous Grosvenor House Hotel.

The award recognised the work of Pall-Ex’s newly created operations team, which was tasked with increasing efficiency at the network’s flagship hub in Ellistown. Judges were impressed with the way that the team quickly identified issues, redesigned operations and combined technology with improved communication to bring about positive change.

As a result of the project, Pall-Ex is now able to offer customers a higher quality service and has also dramatically increased staff satisfaction.

Speaking after the award-win, Pall-Ex CEO Hilary Devey CBE said:

"This is a great achievement for all involved and testament to the hard work and dedication of the team."

“Last year, we celebrated our 20th year in business. Our longevity in such a competitive industry has been down to our ability to change and adapt, and the operations team embody that ethos.

Businesses should always be looking ahead to the next big challenge and empower staff to make meaningful change.

“The Motor Transport Awards are the Oscars of the logistics industry, so this is a fantastic result and I couldn’t be more proud.”

Commenting on Pall-Ex’s entry, the judges said:

“Pall-Ex’s submission centred around a new operations team brought together to transform its hub operations and reduce any inefficiencies at the two-decades-old business. Comprising day and night operations managers, the team identified areas that could be improved and redesigned Pall-Ex’s Leicestershire hub.”

Pall-Ex’s operates across the UK and also has networks in Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Romania and the Benelux territories. Last month, it officially launched its brand-new network in Bulgaria.
