 Role Specific Responsibilities 

  • To maintain a legally compliant and health and safety operation with both drivers and vehicles
  • To deliver on-time all pallets received from Pall-Ex network members into our depots in Launceston for delivery into Devon and Cornwall
  • To collect all our local Devon and Cornwall customers pallets on time and in full
  • To telephone and system liaise with all our own customers and other Pall-Ex delivery members to ensure that a proactive solution response is maintained at all times and in a timely manner
  • To manage the workforce flow to ensure that we have sufficient numbers in place to cover both driving, warehouse cross-dock and office functions
  • Vehicle routing to promote best service and best cost solutions. Recommend changes in vehicle fleet or operational model to improve this
  • To develop the operational team to promote a customer led, solutions based culture
  • To effectively manage operations within budgetary limits, planning resource against increases and decreases in volumes
  • Ensure that KPI service and cost targets are achieved
  • Recruit, maintain and develop your team to achieve a best in class culture and service

 

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience of working in a management role within a depot environment within a fast-paced pallet, parcels or logistics network environment
  • Knowledge of transport related legal requirements. Holding a Managers CPC International qualification is preferable but not essential
  • IT Literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong and flexible work ethic, a team leader and people developer with a proactive can do attitude
