Pall-Ex’s Mark Steel heads to Donnington Park for the final round of the Volkswagen Racing Cup this weekend.
In what is the second visit of the season to Mark’s home track, he will be hoping to top off a great season that has seen him start racing on slick tyres for the first time.
The Pall-Ex Director of Sales and Marketing currently sits in 11th place in the championship and will be hoping to break into the top ten with a strong performance at the East Midlands circuit.
Last time out at Brands Hatch, Mark endured mixed fortunes, with a strong result in Race One, but a mechanical failure then forced him to retire in Race Two.
The Volkswagen Golf MK7 has now been repaired by the Slidesports team and is ready for qualifying on Saturday.
Mark has got his sights set on finishing the season with two strong races, and hopefully achieving his second podium of the year.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Mark comments; “I’ve had a good first season in the Volkswagen Racing Cup proper, and to be mid-table is probably about right.
"I’d love to be comfortably in the top ten, and hopefully this weekend I can break into it.
"The season has flown by, and I have to say a huge thanks to everyone who has supported me this year. It wouldn’t have been possible without them.
"Here’s hoping for a great last weekend and plenty of champagne at the end!”
Qualifying takes place at Donnington Park at 15:00 on Saturday.
