Member Stories: Gorton Brothers LTD

With an ethos focused around never saying no to their customers, Gorton Brothers offers flexible and service-focused storage and distribution to a variety of local businesses. It is this mindset that saw them win the Fortec Business Development Award at Pall-Ex Group’s annual awards evening earlier this year, following a real push on gaining new business over the last few years.

Gorton Brother’s success has come from its ability to accommodate its customers’ requirements, no matter how short notice, and organising support even if it is unable to offer the services itself. This willingness to go the extra mile has proved invaluable for the business, which prides itself on the ability to offer services that other businesses can’t or won’t.

“Our whole company ethos is focused on never saying no to customers and working with them to find the best possible solution for their requirements,” comments Matt Gorton, Director at Gorton Brothers.

Pall-Ex and Fortec Membership

After establishing the business in 2019, joining Pall-Ex Group was the obvious choice for Gorton Brothers, whose family have been part of the network almost since it began in 1996.

Matt would urge likeminded hauliers to join Pall-Ex Group, adding: “Each depot cares about one another and we all do what we can to help each other out, which is something you may not get with every network. Pall-Ex Group has a great community spirit built into the network, which matches our ethos and values as a business.”

Award Winners

Gorton Brothers was awarded the Fortec Business Development Award earlier this year, in recognition of its forward-thinking approach to business. This was a significant win for Gorton Brothers, with the business demonstrating its commitment to its customers and the network.

Gorton Brothers has not stood still during the previous few years but has instead embraced change and used it to the businesses advantage. The team was praised by Fortec for its approach to growing its business, attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile for all its clients.

Matt added: “We increased our input through Fortec and have a great set of customers who are doing exceptionally well in their own businesses which in turn provides us with a lot of pallets! We have also increased our storage capabilities which has increased shipments through the Pall-Ex network from storage.”

About Gorton Brothers

Operating from two UK locations, the Gorton Brothers team deliver to destinations across the UK and Europe, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. From its depots in North Wales and Oxford, the business provides a range of storage and distribution services in addition to its pallet network services, including dedicated and full loads, container haulage and same day deliveries. Its two strategic locations provide excellent links to the rest of the country, further strengthening the service it can offer to its customers.

Looking to the future

Having recently taken on a 45,000 sq ft HQ in North Wales fully racked out with over 6,000 pallet spaces and a 37,000 sq ft HQ in Oxford, the future is looking bright for Gorton Brothers. Between its two depots, the business currently operates a fleet of 27 vehicles ranging from 3.5T Luton vans all the way through to 44T artics, with the goal of adding a further three vehicles to bring the number up to an even 30 in the future.

“We have made huge leaps in the last two to three years and the business has skyrocketed. For now, we will keep our feet on the ground and continue to build on what we have, which will eventually lead to further expansions in the future,” concludes Matt.
