Whole Pall-Ex network shows robust growth and expansion in 2006

Northampton-based Pall-Ex network member Mainland Group has expanded its area of operation to cover the whole of Northamptonshire encompassing Northampton, Corby, Wellingborough, Thrapston and Brackley. The move has proved highly successful and Mainland has doubled its freight input into the Pall-Ex network each night since taking over the additional area on January 6^th this year.

A Pall-Ex member since December 2003, Mainland Group provides a comprehensive range of services from express courier deliveries, to full UK and European distribution through the network. The increase in operational area will increase the strength and presence of Mainland in the region and will give added strength to the Pall-Ex network.

Depot principal Mike Bacon commented: “I was delighted to accept the challenge from Pall-Ex of increasing our area, and I believe we have more than proved our capability already in meeting that demand with our growing modern fleet and experienced team of drivers. We pride ourselves on delivering service excellence every time.”

The move will give added stability for Pall-Ex. Mainland Group is a long-standing, highly efficient and effective operator and – through its own internal expansion, by growing its fleet, its drivers and its facilities -  is in a position to take on the larger area and develop its potential for business growth. As other pallet networks fluctuate, consistency is key to the Pall-Ex network.

The New Year has seen major developments for many of the Pall-Ex members, and is causing a positive ripple effect throughout the network. Several businesses have expanded their fleets, others are taking on additional warehousing capacity, and Pall-Ex continues to invest heavily in keeping the hub and its operations state-of-the-art, from the fork lift truck fleet to the advanced technology of the Pall-IT information management system. The business growth of these members indicates the benefits of being part of one of the largest and most stable pallet networks in the UK.
