Pall-Ex Italia

In 2009, Pall-Ex Italia became the first Pall-Ex network to be launched within mainland Europe, under a master license agreement with a leading Italian logistics company – Alberti e Santi. Pall-Ex Italia operates two strategically located hubs - one in Fiorenzuola d'Arda, Piacenza and a second near Naples to provide a time-sensitive part-load solution to Italy. Melissa Alberti, managing director of Pall-Ex's principal national partner in Italy, Alberti e Santi, commented "We have developed a successful partnership with Pall-Ex – the partnership is a natural fit, as we both have similar goals and the very highest of standards".  We are now in process of developing further national hub-and-spoke palletised freight networks on mainland Europe. We are presently in negotiations with a number of potential Partners and members in the following countries:-

What is Pall-Ex?

Pall-Ex is a pallet network which is based on a hub and spoke business model. Pall-Ex specialises in providing national coverage for time-sensitive and cost effective collection and delivery of small consignments of palletised freight. Pall-Ex unites over 85 leading UK haulier members under one strong and vibrant national brand and continues to set the benchmark in the industry. Pall-Ex is synonymous with high quality service and innovation.

Pall-Ex's National model 

Pall-Ex operates on a "Hub and spoke" model in order to provide a national distribution service. The Principal National Partner (PNP) acts as the centrally located transshipment "Hub" – in which it performs daily transshipment functions for its members, and also manages the network of members. The members make up the "spokes" of the system and they are located in all regions of the country. Typically, members are interdependent haulier companies, who collaborate together to combine resources to provide an efficient method for the movement of goods. Members are responsible for ensuring that freight is collected from customers in their area, trunked to the hub and delivered to end- customers as required by the membership. Every night each member hauls freight collected in their local area into the hub facility. The Hub then transships the freight and loads the freight back on the member's trailers. Once loaded with delivery freight the Member's vehicle returns to its depot. On arrival, the member commences to deliver the freight received by fellow members from the previous nights transshipment and also undertakes collection activities during the day ahead ready to haul to the hub later that evening. This happens every day!

 Through working on this philosophy a number of benefits present themselves both for the National Partner and also for the individual member companies.

Becoming our Principal partner

We wish to select a partner to act as our franchisee in selected European markets. The selected partner should display the following characteristics;

• You have high levels of experience in national distribution management and handling of palletized goods
• You should be close to good road transport infrastructure links to all regions
• You should be financially stable
• You should be flexible, adaptable to growth and change business requirements
• You have a well established business, and good relationships with others in the logistics industry
• You should spearhead a "multi-user" network approach within your country
• You are able to assemble, maintain and improve a membership of hauliers  

Becoming a Member

We are looking to recruit quality-driven regional hauliers who are open to collaborating together through a central facility in order to provide a cost effective and service driven palletized distribution service for small consignment loads. Members should feature the following characteristics;

• You have frequent small consignment loads requiring service
• You are willing to embrace the network ethos and abide to operational requirements and guidelines
• You want to provide cost-effective and time-critical distribution in your country
• You want to be part of a leading national multi-user palletized freight network
• You have a fleet of vehicles in good condition.
• You belong to a respectable national haulage association
